    Quick take
    • Strategy ladders run longer than any other category — often ten or more milestones deep.
    • Base or headquarters level is the usual unit, not story chapters or match wins.
    • An alliance is not optional flavour; it is a resource tap the offer assumes you are using.

    Why strategy pays well

Strategy is the category where the offer walls get greedy in both directions. The headline rewards are the largest you will see outside of finance, and the milestone lists behind them are the longest — it is normal to see a ladder with eight, ten, or twelve rungs, stretching from a first-day tutorial step out to something that takes a fortnight of steady play.

The reason is structural. These games make their money from players who stay for months, so the publisher will pay handsomely for someone who reaches the point of genuine investment. That point is usually mid-game, and the whole ladder is designed to walk you there. Knowing that in advance changes how you read an offer card, because the last rung is rarely a bonus — it is the rung the whole payout is built around.

    Lords Mobile: Kingdom Wars

IGG's kingdom builder is the category benchmark and probably the one you will meet first. You upgrade buildings, run research, train troops and level heroes, and the offer milestones lean on castle level almost every time. It also carries side systems like the Vergeway card mode and the Artifact Hall, which are pleasant but rarely what the ladder is counting.

    State of Survival: Zombie War

FunPlus's post-apocalypse settlement builder, six months into a zombie outbreak. You build a city, form alliances and clear infected. Its early curve is friendlier than most, and the hero-collection layer means some milestones ask for a specific unit rather than a building level. Read which one you have been given before you plan your week.

    Call of Dragons

Farlight's fantasy war game runs on an enormous open map with 3D terrain, flying legions and capturable War Pets. Because the map matters, march distance and territory become part of your pacing in a way they are not elsewhere. Behemoth fights need allies, so an inactive alliance will quietly cost you progress.

Frost & Flame: King of Avalon

An Arthurian city-and-dragon builder from the same studio, structured around raising a city, training a dragon and joining a multiplayer alliance to survive assaults. The dragon is a genuine second progression track, and offers sometimes gate on it, which catches people who only ever upgraded buildings.

    The Ants: Underground Kingdom

StarUnion's colony sim swaps castles for an anthill and troops for ant units, but the skeleton is the same: build, research, expand, defend. Anthill layout genuinely affects your rate of growth, so the early planning decisions have more weight here than in a game where buildings sit on a fixed grid.

    Sea of Conquest: Pirate War

A naval take on the formula. You captain a flagship, build out its cabins, assemble a fleet and sail the Devil's Seas discovering ports. Ship and fleet strength carry the progression, which makes milestones feel less like construction queues and more like power thresholds.

    What milestones measure

Almost every strategy offer measures one of a small number of things, and they are not interchangeable. Working out which one you have been handed is the single most useful five minutes you will spend before installing anything.

    • Base or headquarters level — the main building, which every other structure is capped against.
    • Total power or might — a composite of buildings, research and troops, so it moves even when nothing is being built.
    • Troop tier or army count — often requires barracks upgrades you would otherwise have postponed.
    • A named chapter or campaign stage, usually only in the first few rungs.
    • Alliance membership or a shared objective, which cannot be done solo at all.

The power-based ones are the friendliest, because research and troop training tick along in the background while you are not playing. Base-level ones are the strictest, since a single upgrade near the top of the ladder can take longer than the four below it combined.

    Picking one

The mistake I see most is treating these as six versions of the same game and choosing on artwork. They differ mainly in how much of the progression happens without you, and that is what should decide it.

    • Check whether the final milestone is a level or a power figure before installing.
    • Prefer a game whose alliance chat is in a language you read, since that is where free help lives.
    • Take a title with a second progression track only if you have time to feed both.
    • One strategy game at a time — two competing build queues will lose you both offers.

If you can only check in twice a day, pick something with generous timed build queues and let the queue do the work. If you genuinely enjoy the map and the alliance politics, the longer ladders become far less of a chore, and those are the ones that pay the most.
